Splendour Weekend is soon approaching, and here are our top 5 hacks to ensure that your festival experience is as ethical as possible!
1. Bring your own Water Bottle
This year Splendour has introduced the #BYOBottle Campaign, which encourages all festival goers to bring their own water bottles for the weekend as well as water refill sites being available around the festival. Humans are known to consume 1 Million plastic bottles per minute, and that by 2050 there will be more plastic by weight, than fish in our own oceans. So bringing your own water bottle is a positive contribution to making a change!

2. Wear Eco Brands & Makeup
Festivals are a great opportunity to get out your best outfits and express yourself fashion-wise. With slow fashion becoming increasingly popular, there are plenty more affordable options, which would make a great festival outfit.

3. Bring your own Ethical Toiletries
When packing your festival weekend bag, it can be easy to buy cheap one use items, from the fear of losing them and the facility of throwing them out once the weekend is over. This however causes huge amounts of unnecessary waste. So why not bring your own bamboo toothbrush and plastic free toiletry kit! These toiletries will last you longer than just the weekend and aren't doing any harm to the environment.
4. Bring Your Own Reusable Straw & Utensil Kit
Following the Ethical Toiletries, why not invest in reusable straws and cutlery kits. Apart from looking cute, you will also be reducing the quantity of waste produced throughout the weekend!
5. Don't Leave Anything Behind
Last but not least! Once the festival is over, remember to take with you all your belongings and rubbish. This will ensure that everything is correctly recycled and that the land where the festival has taken place will be left in good condition.
By following these 5 hacks you will be making a small but important difference and can continue enjoying your weekend to the fullest. Lets hope that in 2020 Splendour follows Glastonbury's footsteps and becomes Plastic-Free!
